Baseball Drills | Outfield Footwork and Fly Ball

This drill can help improve outfielders ability to read a fly ball while working to improve their footwork. Head to the link above to learn how many times to complete this drill each and every week to become a better outfielder.

First outfielders must take a drop step when the ball is hit over their heads. The drop step is taken with the same leg that the ball is hit to. A small drop step will open the baseball players hips allowing them to accerlerate after the ball. To gain speed the baseball player must then explode off the drop step leg to gain ground and chase down the fly ball. Use Kbands to develop a power full first step. These leg bands have been proven to increase glute and hip strength which will make a more powerful faster stride. Increase your running speed with kbands.
