StarTimes acquires broadcast rights of Senegals football league



In Senegal, Chinese media group StarTimes have acquired the broadcasting rights to the Senegalese football league for a period of 10 years. The broadcasting contract between the two sides was signed last year with the championship getting underway earlier this month. [TAKE VO] As part of the deal, the newly-renamed StarTimes League 1 will see 52 matches broadcast annually with at least two matches broadcast daily. The move was unveiled at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in Dakar by representatives of the broadaster and Senegalese sports authorities. Players and officials alike have welcomed the move, which will boost the league and gear up competition in the nation's lower leagues too.
